Where to Buy Women's Shoes in DC? |

You never know what you will find at this boutique, which is
refreshingly devoted to just shoes (and a select set of handbags and
belts to make the shoes look even better). The store's carefully
chosen offerings range from classic to trendy, vampy to sweet, and
colorful to conservative; and you'll see both well-established brands
(Stella McCartney, McQueen, and Chloe), as well as promising
up-and-coming designers.
If you want and like shoes that are different from what everyone else
is wearing, hu's shoes is a place you absolutely must visit.

As a self-confessed shoe addict, I often found myself
having withdrawal pangs in the D.C. area. In Boston,
where I lived just prior to moving to D.C., there was
a neat little boutique I could always count on when I
felt the itch for an off-the-beaten-path shoe. Looking
around at this Boston boutique was like being a grown-up
kid in a candy store. I would use my "allowance money" to
treat myself to just one pair of fun, decadent shoes.
After moving to D.C., I was thrilled to discover the
joys of Nordstrom's semi-annual shoe sales for work shoes
and shoes for more conventional occasions, but I just
could not seem to find a similar boutique for the off-the-wall
shoe to finish off a great party outfit ... or to combine
with a conservative outfit to raise a few eyebrows at
work on a Friday!
Thankfully, my addiction was quenched recently when I
stumbled upon the Wild Women Wear Red boutique on U Street.
I have been living around the corner from it for years,
but for some inexplicable reason had never walked in
(then again, the Cakelove bakery is just down the street
so the siren song of cupcakes must have distracted me
from the shoes in the window :). I will be dropping in
for shoes much more regularly, though, since Wild Women
is the shoe boutique I've been craving! The selection
is unique, sassy, hip (but not painfully so), and diverse
enough to accommodate a range of occasions and tastes.
I was also fortunate enough to have my maiden visit during
the end-of-season 50% off sale, so I felt fully justified
in purchasing TWO pairs of shoes at ridiculously good
prices! I am walking around with an extra spring in my
step after having discovered Wild Women Wear Red ... definitely check
it out! -S.S.Lee (Reviewed 03/26/06).
