Bistro du Coin
1738 Connecticut Avenue
Washington, DC 20009
202-234-6969
Bright, lively, and often loud, this is a wonderful French bistro. We love the veal stew, mussels with cream, and the assiette de cochonaille (French cold cuts assortment). In nice weather, they open the large French doors that let out onto Connecticut Avenue. If you have a dog, you can tie his leash to the planters (water provided) and keep an eye on him while eating inside.
Heritage India
1337 Connecticut Avenue NW # 1
Washington, DC 20007
202-331-1114
Delicious traditional and modern Indian food. The "younger" and more trendy location, Heritage India at Dupont Circle offers several tapas or small plate dishes alongside its more traditional Indian menu. From 5-7pm, Monday through Friday, the tapas dishes are half off for Happy Hour.

Komi
1509 17th Street
Washington, DC 20036
202-332-9200
The rustic simplicity of the dining room contrasts with the subtle sophistication of the numerous small dishes that flow from the kitchen. Many of the amuse bouche feature raw fish. A crouton cube contains liquefied "caesar salad". Believe the server when she tells you to eat it in one bite! The greek roots of Chef Johnny Monis provide inspiration the the eclectic menu.
Kramerbooks and Café - Review

Lauriol Plaza
(South American/Mexican, Adams Morgan & Dupont Circle)1835 18th St NW # S
Washington, DC 20009
202-387-0035
This large, spacious, architecturally-acclaimed DC restaurant has a two-tiered dining room and a rooftop deck. Serves authentic Latin-American and Mexican dishes including pork tamales moistened with a splendid chile colorado, fine chiles rellenos, and beef quesadillas. Even 18 years out of college, I still love the swirled frozen margaritas.
Pesce
(American, Dupont Circle)2002 P Street NW
Washington, DC 20036
202-466-3474
Pesce, which has recently relocated a few doors down from their original P Street location, specialize in seafood. Although the preparations are limited, they grill their fresh fish perfectly.
Pizzeria Paradiso
(Pizza/Italian, Dupont Circle)2029 P St NW
Washington, DC 20036
202-223-1245
Maybe the best wood-fired pizza in DC. We love the Atomica (tomato, salami, black olives, hot pepper flakes, mozzarella) and the fresh mozzarella "altre cose." The small dish of olives the bring when you sit down are a nice touch. Watch for the new location across P. Street in summer 2009.
Restaurant Nora
2132 Florida Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20008
202-797-4870
Restaurant Nora is the first certified organic restaurant in America. Everything they serve is of high quality and the service is excellent. Nora's Housemade Country Pate with red pepper jelly, crostini, pickled vegetable salad, and grainy mustard is our favorite starter.
Sette Osteria - Review

202-483-3070
Sister restaurant of Café Milano, this modern-Italian style eatery just north of Dupont Circle has an open kitchen and offers seven varieties of pizza from wood-fired ovens and an array of traditional Italian and vegetarian dishes. Sette Osteria has a comfortable and well-stocked bar -- you can watch sports and CNN on one of the several high-mounted flat screens while you wait for your friends to arrive.
Sushi Taro

Serving authentic Japanese food, once a most sought-after restaurant, it was renovated to only dwindle in space and rise in price. No table reservations taken, no menu yet on their website.

Zorba's Cafe - Review
1612 20th Street NW

Casual, family-owned Greek restaurant. All food is prepared from scratch on-site. Only fresh and wholesome ingredients are used. Reasonably priced gyros and platters.
