Valentino's New York Style Pizza
4813 Beauregard St
Alexandria, VA 22312
703-364-8383
From the outside, Valentino's doesn't look
like much. It appears almost like an afterthought sandwiched between
an Arby's and a Boston Market near Little River Turnpike. However,
like a lot of places that look sketchy on the outside, Valentino's
has some of the best pizza you can find in the NOVA area. Like
most traditional Italian, New York style pizza, Valentino's slices
are enormous (I have, on one occasion, seen them produce a pizza
with a two-foot radius).
Besides traditional offerings of pepperoni, cheese, or "white"
pizza, Valentino's also has Sicilian style (thick, square pizza),
calzones, and unusual toppings such as Chicken alla Vodka or
the "Meatatarian." Throw in an order of their delicious garlic
knots – literally knots of flaky bread soaked in garlic coating
and served with marinara dipping sauce – and you'll have plenty
to keep your mouth busy. A warning on the knots: they are VERY
garlic-heavy, so if you're planning to kiss anyone later, make
sure you both eat them.
Valentino's is not an upscale place but it's certainly friendly.
Occasionally gets somewhat busy during peak hours, though never
so much so that you can't find a seat. Eat-in, carry-out, and
delivery options are all available. I'd recommend eating in if
possible so that everything is fresh when you get to it. Pricing
is also very reasonable; when you take into account the quality
and size of the food you're buying, it seems like a steal. This
is an especially good place for college students, teenagers,
or anyone who just loves great, affordable pizza.
So if you're looking for an authentic slice of NY pizza here
in the DC area, Valentino's is definitely worth looking into.
