Zorba's Cafe is a little jewel in Dupont Circle. Their food is
priced reasonably (ranging from $5.95 for subs to $9.95 for Shish
Kebab plate), served quickly, and well-prepared. When you walk
in to the restaurant, you go straight to the back to order. Staff
are helpful if you need help deciding what to get, but if you are
still undecided, step aside. People are waiting behind you.
After picking up your plates and drinks, you can look for a table
outside. Inside seating is available, but when the weather is nice,
the outdoor option is much much better. Umbrellas are situated
so as to offer spots to both sun-lovers and shade-lovers.
For the platters, portions are large, and are usually served with
greek salad which provides a nice contrast with the heavier main.
I find their falafel to be bit salty, but might say it's well-seasoned.
Their yero (gyro) is wrapped with wax paper so are not to spill
the juicy tzatziki from the other side. Still, I managed to make
a mess on my lap! Zorba's Cafe is a great place to eat for casual
lunch or easy supper while enjoying the weather and people watching.
